The Chapter is pleased to announce that David Morse of Morse Electric, Inc. has been selected for Fellowship into the Academy as one of the new Fellows. The Board of Directors of the Northern Illinois Chapter, NECA believe that David Morse has given his service to the Chapter and the industry so generously that it is above and beyond any call of duty and had nominated him for Fellowship into the Academy. Following Dave's graduation from Northern Illinois University in 1973, he entered the electrical apprenticeship program. Immediately following his graduation from the apprenticeship in 1978, and while working at Morse Electric, in 1982 David began his service to the Chapter by serving on several joint committees. Throughout the years he has continued his service to this Chapter by serving on many joint and chapter committees, including his time spent on the Chapter's Board of Directors through 2010.
The Academy was established by the NECA Board of Governors in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 11, 1968, to recognize exceptional and outstanding service to the electrical contracting industry. The purposes of the Academy of Electrical Contracting are to honor outstanding leaders in the electrical contracting field and to preserve and utilize for the benefit of the construction industry the wealth of experience and ability these men have developed through their years of dedicated effort. The 2010 induction ceremony will take place at the 2010 NECA Convention in Boston and will mark the 42nd anniversary of this exceptional organization.
David's dedication to this Chapter has been extraordinary and it was just recently that he turned in his resignation from the NECA Board. We thank not only Dave, but also the management of Morse Electric, for all the sacrifices that have been made over the last thirty-seven years. Those many sacrifices allowed Dave to participate in NECA throughout his career. You are truly an industry leader and have the respect and admiration of your fellow NECA members. Congratulations, David!
Carl Ballard, Governor of the Northern Illinois Chapter, NECA, retired from Ballard Electric effective March 31, 2010 and submitted his resignation as the Chapter Governor and as the NECA Accredited Representative for Ballard Electric effective that same day.
On behalf of the entire membership and staff, THANK YOU CARL, for your service to the Chapter and the industry. We wish you health and happiness in your retirement!
On May 17, 2010, David Morse submitted his resignation from the Northern Illinois Chapter, NECA Board of Directors. Dave and Debbie are in the process of moving from Rockford to staying full-time in Arizona.
On behalf of the entire membership and staff, THANK YOU DAVE, for your dedicated service to the Chapter and the electrical industry. We wish you health and happiness as you head for Arizona!

A special nomination and election was held at the May 2010 regular membership meeting electing Kay Nelson (Pro-Com Systems) to the Chapter Board of Directors, replacing David Morse.

Chief Warrant Officer Michael J. Durant was a battle-hardened flight leader and instructor pilot when his MH-60 Blackhawk was blasted out of the sky over Mogadishu on October 3, 1993. His story is told in the acclaimed book Black Hawk Down and the major motion picture of the same name. Durant will tell the audience what his experience taught him and illustrates the power of teamwork, leadership, and change at NECA's Closing General Session.
